Figma makes it easy to give feedback right on the design. With its commenting features, you can add thoughts, ask questions, and tag team members without needing technical skills. Here’s a simple guide on how to leave, manage, and respond to comments in Figma—perfect for checking in on the project without needing to navigate too many steps.
1. Adding a Comment (Mac and PC)
- Step 1: Enter Comment Mode

- Use the Shortcut: You can also press the C key on your keyboard to quickly enable Comment Mode.
- Step 2: Place Your Comment

- Type Your Comment: Enter your feedback, question, or suggestion in the comment box.
2. Tagging Someone in a Comment
- To tag someone:
- Type @ followed by their name. For example, typing “@John” will send a notification to John in Figma, helping to direct specific feedback to the right person.
3. Replying to a Comment
- Click on the Comment: To reply to an existing comment, click on it directly.
- Type Your Response: Enter your reply in the text box that appears under the original comment, helping to keep the conversation organized.
4. Viewing All Comments in the Sidebar
- Open the Comments Sidebar: Click on the speech bubble icon in the top-right corner to open a sidebar showing all project comments in one place. This view makes it easier to follow the entire discussion.
5. Marking a Comment as Completed
- Click “Resolve”: Once a comment has been addressed, click the “Resolve” button next to it. This will mark it as completed and hide it from view, helping keep the design space clean and organized.
6. Reactivating a Completed Comment
- Go to Resolved Comments: If you need to reopen a comment, find it in the comments sidebar under “Resolved.”
- Reopen the Comment: Click “Reopen” to make it active again so you or your team can continue the conversation.
7. Deleting a Comment
- Click on the Comment: Select the comment you want to delete.
- Choose Delete: Look for the trash icon or “Delete” option and click it to permanently remove the comment.
Tips for Effective Comments
- Be Specific: Describe the page, section, and exact element needing attention (e.g., “On the homepage, in the ‘About Us’ section, change the second paragraph.”).
- Clarify Changes: If you’re replacing text, explain what’s changing and what’s being removed, if anything.
- Consider Design Impact: When adding new content, try to match the length of existing text or media to avoid disrupting the design.
By following these steps, you’ll be able to leave clear, helpful feedback in Figma, ensuring that your ideas and feedback are heard and understood. Let us know if you have any questions—we’re here to help!
